Exhibitions can often give a good indication of the condition of a market and the quality of promotions. World Food Kazakhstan, which will take place on 3-6 November in Almaty, is the largest exhibition for the food industry in Central Asia. Exhibitions differ from other promotional activities by being interactive, providing an opportunity for all market players to influence the development of the market. If a company does not take part in an exhibition, they may find that their competitors gain valuable territory by making an impact, through promotion of existing of new products, which could help them gain a leading position in the market. It is important to recognise new opportunities in the market and research the potential success of a new product, new launch or even new brand, as many international brands have done previously. For example, Nestlé took advantage of the opportunities available after WW2, implementing a sales and advertising campaign, bringing production in line with the level of sales, reducing its outstanding debts and expanding its activities worldwide. As a result, the company gained valuable market share and has retained its leading position ever since.
World Food Kazakhstan 2009 will take place on 3-6 November in the Atakent Exhibition Centre and will feature approximately 300 companies from 30 countries. The exhibition will comprise several national group stands, including Germany, South Korea, France and Czech Republic. Feedback from last year’s event revealed that 47% of exhibitors made sales during the exhibition and 53% of exhibitors established between 20 and 50 useful contacts. The 2009 event is expected to attract approximately 5,000 trade visitors. A particular draw for visitors will be a professional tasting session for the ‘Best Product’ competition.
One of the keys to the success of World Food Kazakhstan is the variety of sectors that the exhibition covers, including food and drink, agriculture (AgroWorld), equipment for the food industry (World Food Tech) and ingredients, additives and spices (Ingredients).
